Tracking mileage / travel costs

Hi I'm an absolute newbie to business. I'm a cleaner. I travel all over my city to do cleans. How do I do travel expenses? Do i keep receipts for petrol top ups or do i just track miles? How do i track them, just write them down or?

Just about to ask the same question am also new to this site.I get car allowance every month but opted to take the cash. My work colleague has a new bmw she was telling me it’s not worth getting a car your best of keeping the money. Haven’t got the slightest idea about what she meant. Is it tax efficient ?

There is a distinct difference between Personal and Company! - The 'Company' can Invoice whatever it likes for travel!
