Tracing a company that's done a runner?

I just found out today from the Newcastle Metro Arena that the show I'm supposed to be exhibiting at this weekend is cancelled. No word or contact from Totally Baby, the company running the show, I just happened to find out myself that it was cancelled.

The company is at http://www.thetotallybabyshow.com/contact.php and their phone numbers now don't exist.

They owe me around £900 in stand fees that I've paid to them in advance. The Metro Arena says that they got an email from them saying they'd cancelled the contract for the hire of the venue and since then they've been unable to contact them and they are still owed money by Totally Baby.

I've done some searching on the domain name and the person that registered it is:

Neil Westrope
Inspire Advertising
Church Farm
Ulcombe
Maidstone
Kent
ME17 1DN

With a telephone number that is still in use (well it rings out of hours when I just tried it.)

If the company has gone bust, what can I do to trace them/find out who the receivers are. What online resources are there where I can find out more info about the company. What is the situation with trying to get my money back with Totally Baby and Inspire Advertising being at the same address and obviously run by the same people.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Seeing as they did not get around to posting an exhibitor list on the show website I suspect the take up for stalls was not too good.

Does the venue have any details of other exhibitors who had booked to go, one of them may have more information as to what is going on.

Good luck.

You could start by looking at Companies House to see if the business is trading via a limited company.

I had a quick look for you and nothing came up under Totally Baby but I did get a hit with Inspire Advertising. Have a look at this link. http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/e8ddf22f42acc70babfe6370c83a2eea/compdetails Although the address is not the same it is likely that (given they are in the same area) it is the address of their accountant (often a company will use its accountant's address as the registered office as it can make life a bit easier on the admin / compliance front).

you may have to pay a few quid - but if you download the company info you should have name and addresses for all the directors.

by the way, the totally baby website lists a "Celeste" as a director, so you have to assume it is a limited company - just a matter of what name!

Thanks for this, the baby company is actually under the name: Totallyevents UK Ltd
and I have found one called that, that's in liquidation at:
http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/e8ddf22f42acc70babfe6370c83a2eea/compdetails
However, the registered address is: TOTALLY EVENTS UK LIMITED, 46 VIVIAN AVENUE, LONDON, NW4 3XP and that address is the address of the liquidators - so not 100% sure it's them.

I'm guessing I should get in touch with the liquidators tomorrow and get in the long queue for my money :(

Inspire appears to be the web design company. Would make sense that they registered the website.

Totally Baby lists two adresses. The one in Scotland is part of a business centre so phone one of the other tennants and ask about them.

My best guess is that it is one and the same people. You'll be an unsecured creditor I'm afraid. Given the nature of the business I doubt there will be a lot of assets so there will probably be nothing or little to pay you with.

Sorry for the gloom and doom.

the exhibition you had booked for was "Metro Radio Arena Newcastle
Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st August" right ?

the company you have given us is "Totallyevents UK Ltd" which as above has stated is in liquidation the first advertisement was listed in London gassett on 29/04/2008 .

If you booked and paid your deposit after this date then the company was clearly in an insolvent position .

In which case the directors are responsible for the debt and you should act immediately to address your refund to the directors .

Paul & Celeste are the directors and secretary of the company and their other company is also in Liquidation CHAMPAGNE & CELEBRATIONS LIMITED

with all the above information we as debt collectors would be confident in getting a result for you if you acted swiftly . i suggest you email us to get your debt collected .
It would be possible to collect this refund on a no win no fee basis .

I look forward to receiving your email

That is a very good point.

When I tested it earlier a gentleman answered. Would suggest you display your number if testing and keep trying at random times.

I am in Maidstone next week seeing a client so if I have time will have a snoop to see what the set up is. :)

I thought it was another of their companies as others said on here thought it was more relevant then just being web hosting consultants.
