18,000 phrase searches a month for 'unique gifts' and quite good click through rates. All of the page 1 sites are PR3+ so would probably need some back link work to get there but the keyword at the start of the title can work wonders. It also sometimes gets you into the 3 x google shopping results which can be position 2-5.

We will have to go by LSI concepts here...
google shows different results for plurals but if there is a decision to be made between having a new keyword and having a plural it has to be new keyword because the plural can be taken care of by LSI, H1, content body...
