I currently use Zen Cart and just wondered if filling the in Title, Keyword and description in the meta section will directly benefit SEO and increase SERP?

Thanks in advance.

Well, yes and no. :)

Do some keyword research for your products, get an understanding of how people search for what you sell and write descriptive page titles and meta descriptions for you products that feature the popular keywords where possible.

Likewise, when you know what your target keywords are, weave them into your product descriptions where possible. Remember, this copy is designed to sell the product so don't litter it with the keywords.

Then, over time, try to set up some a goals in your analytics and review which keywords bring traffic that converts to sales and if needed, polish your approach a little.

Hope it helps.

Well just because your title has 'Applicances' in doesn't mean that you will be page 1, but sure it does help. Make sure you go through out your whole site to make it worth while and research keywords, not just any jibberish.

An enticing title will pull in visitors where ever on the page you are.

It definetely does! The title tags and meta descriptions is what shows up when a user searches on Google, Bing or any other search engine. It is very important to remember that the most you have filled in the better!!

Hope it helps! :)

Onpage optimisation I feel has become more powerful again after the Panda update earlier this year - hence it is important to get your onpage SEO right. Your title tag is the most important one to place your keywords within, bubt do this in a natural way that is also enticing to the browser, eg 'Keyword with FREE Delivery' or something similar.

Also, remember that your meta description tag is what browsers will view and read about your site when it is listed within Google's search results. This tag should therefore seek to entice a click through to your site.
