tiger commerce

On behalf of Tiger Commerce thanks BOHO for your comments. We aim to please.

On one of your previous posts you said how it would be nice if the features of the products could benefit from a design to look clearer. What do you think of this (and this goes for everyone on this forum looking at this thread) - http://www.tigercommerce.co.uk/website-shop.

I notice there have been many comparisons to EKM which is not surprising is they are similar in terms of price. We've just created a new page to our website we hope you will just love - http://www.tigercommerce.co.uk/tiger-commerce-vs-ekm-powershop.

As always it would be great to hear all your comments.

Thanks
Thank you, lol! its nice to see the revamp and I'm suitably impressed it does give a much more professional feel overall and I feel looking at it that the basic info and answers I would be looking for are covered.

I'm still not 100% a fan of the idea of having to sign up in order to have a proper play with the software, I know there are good, sound marketing reasons for that, you quite rightly from a business perspective want to be able to follow up potential clients who dont sign up during the 7 days and get either feedback or the opportunity to find out if you can persuade them to sign up and I totally respect that but I would still like to see something like an anonymous, or having to provide an email address only access to the dashboard, perhaps on a time limited basis, say 12-24 hours, where I can play then if I like what I see I can sign up to the 7 day trial and have a more thorough test.

But all in all I would say congratulations, you've certainly made it a more intuitive, clear and engaging site and I would certainly echo the comments of your EKM page ;)

Hey

I tried using Magento for the best part of a year, yeah it has alot of features to shout about but none of which ever worked properly.

Ive been designing and building websites for many years and was sucked into the false sense of security with magento's massive list of features everyone wants.

problem is the software doesnt work properly, its major hassle to keep up to date, its slow and to be honest i couldnt ever upgrade it because it would break everything I had ever done with it ever time.

It got to the point that they were patching it so often i was being left without working features and a half working shop.

I went ahead with the tiger trial, managed to have my entire design up and running in a few days, loading products was a snap, customising and even just setting them up was around 4000 times easier then magento alone

driftdimension.co.uk

The software just works, i didnt do to much to it at first, still need more products on there but I spent a couple of hours a night doing marketing for a few of the products on there and its really starting to have an effect now..

Tiger commerce is easily the best bit of kit out there for selling stuff online, you dont need to host it yourself, it doesnt cost the earth, it just works.

Ive come from using OS commerce, Xcart, all of those things, they're all too mouch hassle compared wtih something like Tiger

by the way, long time reader but this is my first post here :)

I'd second that, i'm interested to learn more about the connection with eBay but I'm not prepared to sign up for a trial to do so.

I don't really want a trial, just to see a demo of how it works and how flexible it is.

Can you map your product categories to eBay categories and shop categories within some kind of
admin area?
Can you filter products to list, I have 1 store with 1300 items but only list on eBay items over £6 due to fees, with a few manual exclusions, which is approx 500 items.
The data must go into my own custom template?
It must be able to list 30 day GTC BIN listings, and automatically in a few clicks

I currently have sites using Zen Cart and OS Commerce and write my own custom PHP scripts to list on eBay.

Does anyone have any highly recommended alternatives to Tiger Commerce? I've asked Mattlast005 for some URLs of their customers (together with which packages that they're on) in order to see what to expect for the outlay, but heard nothing.

Im not sure what you mean by what version. As far as I know its the most up to date version, it all runs hosted so I dont download any different versions as far as im aware?

None of us are ever fans of signing up to things we're not sure we'll use but if you dont try then you'll never know! :) granted it could do with a feature list so you know what to expect before signing up for a trial, but you can be testing it yourself within half an hour

Thank you for your responses.

In reply to your response 'BobbyBoy' - yes I am an employee at Tiger Commerce and never hidden away from that on this forum. I am very proud to work for Tiger Commerce and its parent company GForces.

I am very surprised to hear about your issue with a ticket not being responded too. We deem customer service at Tiger Commerce extremely important and is the very reason why we have invested heavily into our support infrastructure. With our support team we also have a SLA of 48 hours response time to any ticket which is all tracked through a well known support system. If of course I can help you in the future with any eCommerce projects you have please do not hesitate to get in touch.

With regards to us slashing the prices on our annual package which is the Black Tiger package there are a number of reasons why we have done this. The first one being the outstanding response we had from a recent special offer in conjunction with Paypal. We were over-whelmed how well this went and the great feedback we got from our recent sign-ups. With this in mind we thought the logical next step would be for the first year to keep the price at a similar price.

The second reason was as I am sure you are aware many businesses in the UK do not make it past their first 3 years of trading of which the first year - survival is paramount. We thought that if we can help in any way with this, keeping businesses expenditure down whilst at the same time boosting our ever growing community everybody wins.

You really need to be more upfront and clear that when you are recommending/promoting Tiger Commerce, you are actually doing so because you work for the Tiger Commerce company.

I suggest that you put Tiger Commerce in your signature. Signatures are available to free members, but just without the links.

I have been searching for an alternative ecommerce solution to outdated one I have at the moment.
I found EKM through a Google search and the price seemed right, the store templates seemed OK and the demo store worked well. I had more-or-less decided to give them a try. However reading reviews on a number of forums have caused me to think twice. EKM have some very good reviews and a lot of terrible ones. I know to take reviews with a pinch of salt and realise that there will sometimes be problems in any business, but it's how the company deals with those problems that is important.
I also don't like companies slagging off their competitors as Tiger seem to have done on their website - I think it is unprofessional.
On the other hand, I appreciate that Matt is posting on here and being upfront about being an employee of Tiger.
I think I will give Tiger a call and see if I can get a feel for them, but my confidence has been knocked and the hosted ecommerce industry seems to be full of cowboys, to be blunt.
My company is not in the position to spend thousands on a custom solution, and I do not have the time or technical knowledge to do it myself, so it looks like hosted is my only choice.
In short I am in a quandry...

As an alternative to ekm you might want to try OpenMindCommerce. Phil is a member on here so if Tiger don't have what you are looking for give them a try.

I have been using Tiger's software for just over 6 months now and have found their software and service to be excellent. I am NOT a Tiger employee by the way!

I have a background in web development but wanted to get a site up and running as quickly and cheaply as possible so did some reserch on the various hosted options. Tiger's feature set seemed to include everything I wanted (integrated email marketing, customer reviews, social media functionality, bulk editing etc.) so decided to give it a try.

It is very easy to customise (although there are obviously some limitations) and has worked very well for us so far. For the money I think it is a great service. They always answer support calls and call me back with progress updates for any issues.

Our business is growing rapidly - we have just won 'Young Business of the Year' in the Surrey Business Awards - and part of this is down to our website, which gets great feedback from customers.

Keep up the good work Tiger and keep those impovements coming!

Neil.

Just to let you all know we have launched a free version of our software. We have decided to call it Tiger Cub which used to be the name of our £17.99 a month package (the package names have been adjusted across the board).

This is a slimmed down version of the full Tiger Commerce software with features such as mailshot, csv import/export and mobile friendly sites features removed. The version also only allows for 20 products and we hope it will open our software to a much larger audience.

Why not have a try using it on the following link and let us know what you think - http://www.tigercommerce.co.uk/packages-pricing

I would still be very keen for someone from Tiger to get in touch with me regarding integrating with our Payment Gateway so that our merchants could use Tiger Commerce and Tiger Cub...

Thanks,

Simon

I see there has been no more replies to this for a long time now!

I am looking into a hosted e-commerce solution, I would love to here some recent experience with tiger commerce or EKM powershop, if any body has some feedback for either company I would be very grateful :)

Hi Dan1el,

As you are looking for a hosted solution before committing to Tiger or EKM you might want to look at bluepark .co.uk

Perhaps a lesser know name than the other two but their software is bullet proof, fast and very feature rich. UK servers and UK support I can highly recommend them.

Hi Dan,

Have been with them for approx 6 years and currently got four websites with them.

There are three different levels depending on your requirements and if you wanted to test drive it first they offer a 14 day free trial.

Thanks Dave,
does look good, the obvious advantages that stand out with Tiger is the price, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited space & unlimited products!

Not sure if Tiger do a free trial but it maybe worth running a free trial of both side by side? Tiger maybe cheaper and have a few unlimited things but you need to look at all the features so see how it fits your products, design and ease of use etc For example I can't believe tiger won't let you change the background colour?

In terms of design you can change all colours on BP, have multiple templates and layouts and blocks that can change depending on the product/category viewed etc

BP has a very good forum for help and if you have any questions just PM and I will do my best to help.

Not a big fan of these guys..especailly when advertising on price and than you find out you need to pay more..cheap tricks. I've used Volusion and now switched to Izzonet which is cheap, full of marketing tools, integrates with suppliers, integrates with Facebook and Youtube and somthing like 20 shopping engines

Maybe you do for Tiger but there isn't any addons for Bluepark. You pick your package and that's it!

Izzonet does look good but at the moment they don't integrate with any major UK PSP's although I believe by July they will with plans to incorporate secure trading and total web solutions. Also until last week you couldn't change the currency symbol which was strange but to their credit they sorted that out very quickly!
