Hi guys

So what the devil are those pop up stands called that you see Sky and other have at shops (Don't say pop up stands please). I want one for taste sessions

I cant find them but there was a thread here a while ago on a supplier. I want one we can brand up.

Thanks

I found 6 in a skip a few years ago, didn't know what they were but they looked good, then figured out what they were and thought they are excellent. The quality is top notch, they are light weight, pop up in seconds with one person and are easily branded with posters. They have magnetic strips so you put a poster up and it's attached via the magnets.

I can't imagine anything else to do the job with such ease. If you can get the whole kit for £75 and it's the same kit then that's a good buy, you can't really go wrong with it.

The stands with the criss/cross collapsible frames are called pop up stands. They have been around for 20 Years or so and have changed very little. They have been widely replaced now by newer, tubular frames that support one piece fabric graphics.

With the old pop up stands you have to manually line-up all of the graphics. The magnetics can lose strength over time and if you accidentally crease or fold a panel then the display is ruined.

With the newer fabric stands you don't have to worry about any of these things. You can even put the print in a washing machine if it gets damaged.

Lots of companies who have had the older pop up stands have replaced them with the newer stands which is one of the reasons why there are so many of those stands on ebay or being dumped.

Picking up an old pop up frame for £75 sounds like a good deal but it probably costs £300-£350 to custom-print a new set of panels. So, you end up paying £400 or so for a display stand which is out-dated.

This video shows how the newer stands work:-

Size for size they generally cost a little less than the old magnetic stands. If you are moving them to international events the carriage saving can be huge because these pack into a small back at around 10KG instead of a 35KG wheeled trolley!

Hope this helps

Good question!

The fabric stands are designed for indoor use only. You would have to push the stand over quite a long way before it would topple. In that respect, there is no significant difference between these stands and the older magnetic pop ups.

We have customers who use these stands outdoors but we would advise only in a very sheltered area and preferably under cover (for example, inside a Gazebo or tent)

Fabric prints are very durable in the respect that water won't damage the print. If a fabric wall gets knocked over, the print is very elastic and 'bounces back'. In contrast, once roll panels from a magnetic pop up are creased/folded accidentally then they are ruined.

Since we started printing the fabric stands a few Years ago we have had hundreds of customers with the older magnetic pop ups replace them because the portability/convenience of the newer alternative fabric stands is impossible to ignore. Arguably & most importantly, the newer fabric stands look better because there are no visible seams in the face of the display.

All the best
Mark
