Since I joined this forum on the forum on June 13th I have sold two products and one of my projects, I have just found out, is on the shortlist for the New Statesman Media Award 2005.

Coincidence or something more spooky I wonder...

I don't know whether it is or isn't coincidence, but I do know that these forums are read by various business journalists and media. I also found out a couple days ago that these forums have overtaken some of the other longer running forums as the busiest business forums in the UK. :)

Its great to hear that since joining you've pulled in some excellent business, and I hope that getting your name known on here "may" have helped !

    Hi Richard

To be honest I don’t think this was the case in this instance, much as I would like to say that was the case. What I will tell you, and anyone else, is that it has meant a lot of hard work over a long period of time and still is not enough to let me quit the day job. That said I like the day job actually so that’s not really an issue.

What I have learnt is that if you have what you believe to be a good idea that you have market researched. Others tell you they would buy it as soon as it is ready you can still be ahead of the game when it comes to taking it to market. I have had a couple of projects that are only now being seen for their real potential after about 12 months. I was talking with a very successful high profile business person about 3 weeks ago who said that they made no sales at all in the first 6 months and on several occasions thought about calling it a day. They are now a very successful high street brand. So the moral of the story is if you believe in what you are doing do not give up on it.

One thing is for certain there are probably easier ways of making a living - but maybe they don’t make you want to get out of bed in the morning ;)
