The Credit Protection Association

A company I worked with used CPA when I was their credit controller around 10 years ago as a supposed back up instead of going legal all the time. At the time they handed an impressive looking folder with a kit in it, stamps, letters with their logo on for you to use etc. I don't know if they still do this, as I said, it was ten years ago. We hardly used them, I was too hot at getting the money in to need them that often and when I did the debt went legal anyway. However, if you don't have any system in place and dont have a credit controller it could be a valid option.

Found this old thread while searching for some other assistance. We've used CPA recently and they've changed quite a bit - a new web based online service including credit checking, debt recovery, business information etc. Probably worth a second look.

used to work for them CPA online 2 years ago, a no brainer if you can afford it, but your company needs turnover in excess of £750K to make it viable and it has very strict control procedures and deadlines but will pay equivalent of 9o% of any invoice that goes delinquent including bankruptcy.

Hi,

Anybody used or have any experience of "The Credit Protection Association" ?

Their website is www cpa co uk

Seems a good service but not sure about the costs.

Steer clear of this lot! Rep came in with their proposition and ''mis-sold'' their direct debit payment option. It was explained that I would pay 1145 over the course of a year, however it turns out its over 1380 per year as i'm a non-limited business. I cancelled the direct debit mandate and they are now taking me to court due to breach of contract.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:!

This business is nothing but a scam!!! We signed up to them as they promised us a 'money back guarantee' where if they did not reclaim 10 times the joining fee (£1330) of money owed to our business, then we would receive the joining fee back after 1 year. We signed the agreement after asking numerous times if there were any clauses or exceptions to this agreement which we were told there wasn't. Once we had the agreement I then noticed the teeny tiny small print on the reverse which made our business an exception to the money back guarantee. I cancelled the agreement think I was covered by the consumer credit act 2 week cooling off period to which they responded this doesn't apply as I signed 'COMMERCIAL CREDIT AGREEMENT'! They are now chasing for the £1330 joining fee! anyone had similar experiences?

A business is not covered by the consumer credit act.
I'm sorry but as a business you need to ensure that everything is read before signing.
