hi all we had a letter to our company from the credit protection association with a run down of invoices we paid late to a printing firm over a year ago. the firm had gone into liquidation and we had a email from the liquidators saying we had paid everything and our firm had been taken off the list of customers that they needed to chase.
Then this letter turns up saying we should pay compensation for late payments of 40 pound per invoice ? so my question is what happens if we ignore it and what can they do...it sounds like a scam to me...

Did it have details of the invoices? I'd forward a copy to the liquidator and ask ask what's going since they confirmed that everything has been settled. If it's a scam it may well have been sent to other creditors.
hi it has got a run down and it actually said all invoices have been paid...but this is compensation for paying them late.. so i never agreed to this with the firm that we dealt with..they went bust,, the liquidator said we had paid everthing,,,then a year on this firm send this out.

Did your contracts with the failed firm say anything about late payment of invoices? I would contact CPA and ask on what grounds they are imposing late payment fees and tell they can whistle for it.
hi no they didnt. i know some larger companies like BOC gasses have lots of things like that in their t and cs but this was a small printing firm. So who gets the compensation if i paid it

To answer your question, The Credit Protection Association Ltd is a legitimate, long-established company

    2 avenues to explore

    1. Is this actually the same company, or someone hanging on their coat tails?

    2. In what / whose capacity are they acting. I'd be pretty sure they are scraping and aren't aware (deliberately or otherwise) that you have received confirmation from IPs.
