The Business Startup Show - Excel, London

Hello Guys

This is one of my first posts. I'm about to embark on my own business doing IT Support and Web Design as well as reselling various platforms. I currently have a full time job but am moving 100 miles away as my fiance is expecting our first child. Although I realise it's a saturated market there are a couple of areas I am able to specialise in.

I am considering attending The Business Startup Show at Excel June. As I'll be travelling from South Wales and money is tight, I'd like to know if anybody has ever been to it? What are your thoughts?

Many Thanks

Lee

I'd always recommend attending (as a visitor) rather than exhibiting. You may think you've missed an opportunity, but better missed and revisited, than £x,000 wasted, I would think.

I would consider business breakfast clubs, as a way of networking and getting started on smaller jobs.

I've been to a number of the shows over the years.

I think it depends what you want to get out of it.

There are many exhibitors there but of course they wont ever be ones that are recommended. However it does give you a chance to speak to many types of organisation face to face. Check out the old exhibitor lists to see the types of companies that go.

The part of the show I really go for is the speakers, again depends on what you're looking for - whether it's inspiration and motivation, legal info, internet/web info, accounting/finances, starting up etc.

There are also lots of organisations who help and fund startups, government led services etc, and they can also be useful for advice.

Plus lots of networking events at the show, and pitch type events.

I would view last years information and make a decision based on that.

Hope that helps
