I've been looking in this and other firms as my accountant is moving on.

I can see someone else asked this question a few years ago but not many personal experiences:

I wonder if anyone has used them before and have had any issues. Their UK trustpilot and review centre reviews seem too good to be true. Including face book as well. I can see they have a good review on Clutch and the person who wrote it is a genuine business on Linked in

The negative reviews are a bit concerning, especially ones where they pay the company and then no work is done

I've already had a chat with them already, but as with any business wanting customers their not going to say anything to put you off

I used to be under Bradleys Accountants who are also an online accountant, I guess conveyerbelt accountant. Been with them for almost 10 years

But sadly I got an email last week, they are ceasing operation in 2 weeks citing covid as a reason.

They used to charge me 880 incl vat for accounts made up, CT 600, Self assessment + payroll for 1 and even allowed me to use their address for my company.

not sure I am going to find something as cheap as that again

I tried my local firms, Two charged 1200 incl vat excl payroll, another one will get back to me end of Feb which is not great. One charged 1900 incl vat for services I wanted.

interesting another online firm, Mazuma charges 95 ex vat for the same services as TAP

Turnover is less than 70k, two directors only and expenses < 500, I do my own book keeping, Maybe some just don't want the work of such simple accounts or think I will be an easy target to be ripped off.

It is worth asking whether they are qualified accountants and what body they are members of.

I've had three new clients over the past couple of weeks who have come to me from similar firms who have needed references for mortgage and visa applications as the firms they'd used weren't qualified and as such couldn't provide references. Generally only members of the Chartered accountancy bodies can provide references. Something to bear in mind.
