Hi everyone,
I asked a question yesterday, regarding any pointers for portals I could register my interest in tendering for work.

Has anyone on here used they and how did you get on. We already do a little work for local authorities, but I feel I'm scratching the surface.

Sites to avoid: BIP and QSL - for reasons look elsewher on this forum.

You could register at competefor.com which are vaguely Olympics related contracts being offered.

If you google "tenders for printing" you will see a number of LAs who have put work out to tender in the past.

It is, in my experience, far more cost effective to do your own research than spend £1000 a year with site swhich allegedly provide you with news on tenders.

Hi Stanbury Press

Can you confirm if you had any luck with the tendering over the past few months?

Stanbury,

One word of caution - if you are talking true Tendering here, then be warned that Tendering will eat cash faster than anything else I can think of. Tendering, in its true sense, is when an ITT (Invetation to Tender) is issued, and companies reply, with the rounds of shortlisting, review, questions etc etc etc - you will spend many weeks to create tender responses with short chance of wins - most Tenders are formailities to keep the rule makers happy (there are limits set for when a project gets to a set level, you have to put it out for tender), and they have already selected who they want to give the business to.

I have worked for a medium sized company in the past, where people reply to Tenders, its all they do, day in, day out and it takes LOTS of effort. Generally, tenders are done by big teams of people.

the reward?!?!?....... the prices of the items are massivly inflated to make the Tender process worth while.

If anybody mentions a Tender to me now, I run a mile.

Speaking from the inside of a public sector organisation, this is nonsense.

It's the same as any buying process - we want the best value and quality from QA suppliers. If you can't get over the first hurdle, you're not worth the risk when it comes to the deliverables.

Also speaking for inside a public sector body, I can assure you its not. If those involved to look at the tender responses havnt made up their mind before the tenders come in, somebody outside will have done, and will hint at what the final decision will be.
