Tax Payment by BACS: what is UTR followed by letter 'K'?

Just setting up a BACS payment to pay this years tax. This is the IR's instructions:

"You’ll need to use your 11-character payment reference when you pay. This is your 10-digit Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) followed by the letter ‘K’."

Does this mean I have to add the letter k to my UTR number? And does it tag directly onto the end of the UTR?

Thanks,

Yes, an example on their website would be helpful, there are a few instances like that on the forms.

Well done on completing it - was this your first one? They are the hardest. You’ll wonder what you were worrying about next year and you’ll have everything ready in advance ;)
