Targeting and awareness help.

Good morning all,

Very new to the forum and this is my first post after being introduced by a
friend, and have to say i`m impressed so far.

Right, after some advice on a project I have on the go at the moment.
Basically I feel a little out of my depth and really would like a bit more
of a solid base and plan to work from.

I have created a marketing/promotional/corporate package which is available worldwide and centres around motorsport and more specifically, rallying.
I run 2 websites, mattcottonrallying a uk site, and mcrmarketingsolutions ( a com ) which should give you a little bit of background. The packages are high quality and carry a resonable pricetag compared to say TV advertising and last for 1 year or more.

So far I have produced very high quality flyers which I propose to send out to the 2000 addresses I have painstakingly gleaned from the net and my head, which will be followed up with a very high quaility profolio which details the package in much more depth.

I have tried google adword which points to the mcrmarketingsolutions.com site, with little sucess. But Im not really sure where to go from here. Ive spent a small fortune on the flyers and portfolio and want to ensure they go as many companies as possible, but what is the best way to do this? Web presense, purchasing bulk email addresses....etc?

The first batch of mailers recieved 2 replys (from 200 flyers) which was positive, but I feel like im missing out on targeting the right people.

Thanks in advance!

Regards
Matt

Hey Matt,

The 2000 addresses you have put together, are they targeted to a specific section or industry? How have you found them?

Morning!
Thanks for the quick reply.

Basically it was a brainstorming session trying to get names of everything and anything we could. Nothing specific, we have everything from Kellogs to Animal clothing. Any brand we could think of we researched the addresses. Hit and miss granted, but I belive our offering could be taken up by anyone in any sector.

Thanks,

Matt

Well you have to think about their target market - as I assume you offer hospitality etc. So think about the customers would bring along to enjoy the day and then the audience market for the advertising.

I would perhaps focus on some B2B markets such as Engineering, Software and Automotive - I think you're more likely to get a better response this way. At least in the beginning - I agree it * Could * appeal to any market etc. but focusing will always improve your prospects - it's easier to tailor the information pack then

have you thought of any telemarketing activity? I could carry this out for you if you'd like? it could either be research into fininding out who the right people are to target, mailer follow ups as well as appointment/sales opportunities.

pm me if you like and I'd be more than happy to discuss further

Again, I'm biased (along with AlexGoode it seems) but ring them first, most contacts are happy for information, you get permission so you dont fall foul of being a spammer and people are more likely to look at information they know is coming and they have asked for, also gives you a much better response when you call back after the information has been sent.

Do it yourself or outsource, either way dont forget to TPS and CTPS cleanse your data.

Matt,

Whatever, one sentence you said is right - I belive our offering could be taken up by anyone in any sector.

This may be the case long term, BUT it will pay dividends to focus early on - you learn a lot from mistakes and successes with certain areas and how one may respond well to the different types of marketing efforts etc.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing......!
Alex and yourself are probably quite right, the current way I am doing it relys on the flyer actually reaching the right person, let alone them reading it.

I basically need to find a way of targeting the right people looking for a unique marketing/brand/corporate tool.

Thanks for the advice so far guys, apologies for the doubling up, new to this so feel free to merge/delete a thread mods.
