Hi all

just requiring some further help. Who and what service would you recommend for taking credit/debit card payments.

Payment will be taken in store and over the phone, typical phone transaction around £180 and store transaction around £20-£30.

Not sure if you need that information or not but if anyone could point me in the right direction.

thanks again guys, apologies if this re-post

As Elaine has suggested I'd certainly take a look at Sage Pay probably a lot cheaper than what your bank can offer. Quite a few of our clients use that. Elavon is another I see a few use. Again might be worth a look.

Paypal virtual terminal allows you to use any internet browser as a credit card terminal, costs £20/month and 3.5% of your takings at a low monthly turnover (below £1500pcm). That percentage goes down as your takings increase.

So it can be fairly pricy, but the fixed costs are low, and Paypal make it very easy for you to set up an account with them. You could get going, and if your business goes well switch to a different provider in the future if the percentage saving looks worthwhile, and once you have an idea of your overall takings.

SagePay offer what you want with their Virtual Terminal, it's pretty competitive - All they'd require is the suitable merchant number from your bank, so consider the cost you may incur from the bank

We already had a SagePay Direct account, adding the virtual terminal package was free for us, but It's only £10 a month if you don't have an existing account.

But you've said you want to take it in store too? If you're a member of the FSB you can get a really favorable rate on a card terminal, that'd cover in-store card payments and card holder not present transactions on the phone.

Merchant UK

I can assist you for Virtual Terminal (MOTO) and merchant account and I have a contact who can get you some excellent rates on chip & pin for in store transactions (you cannot use a Virtual Terminal for face-to-face transactions). Drop me a PM if interested and I can get you a no obligation quote.
Some great advice there and pretty good Rates too from Totalwebsolutions

Not sure about sagepay, they've had some nasty horror stories lately, just google sagepay and you'll see.

I wouldn't even trust Paypal, If you value your business which i'm sure you do then paypal is a no no, They will not sign up to the UK's Banking Code on Electronic money, So you have no protection at all, Paypal have the final say not you.

Worldpay do some good deals but they are a bit pricey by a few quid each month, but the service is great and you can't fault it.

Either way give Totalwebsolutions a call, He can set you up on the right track ;)

If you already have a MOTO (mail order / telephone order) merchant account we can help with your over the phone payment requirements. We provide a Virtual Terminal via our secure gateway. Or we can provide an all-in-one solution (MOTO merchant account & Virtual terminal). PM me your details if you would like to discuss further.

Our simple Virtual Terminal guide provides a bit more info on how businesses use this currently.

Cheers
