Hi everyone

Sorry if I'm being silly and I am a complete novice but I often see many stores advertise free delivery and call it 'Super Saver'. Where did this term come from and why do most companies do this instead of calling it simply free delivery?

Is there a way businesses can offer free deliveries on their items?

Best wishes

super saver can mean free / discounted so that's why it's used

only way to offer free delivery is to swallow the cost into your markup, either on a over x spend or on all items.

You will be able to speak to couriers to get an idea on pricing for delivery (if you send enough parcels, you can get a cheap price per parcel).

Super saver is usually the cheapest method delivery. For example our super saver uses Royal Mail 2nd class, whereas our standard uses 1st class.

However some companies (ourselves included) do offer the better delivery service for free is an order is above a certain value. Hence the need to call the cheaper option super saver as it tells the customer it's free but it is not the best delivery option available.

The problem you can be faced with when having different options though is explaining it to the user so you need to do this quite carefully. Here's our offering - http://www.temptationsdirect.co.uk/sex_toys_info_shipping.html

Thanks guys, it's something that has always puzzled me. :)

After surfing around, I can see now that many people call their cheapest option Super Saver and Amazon name it that as well.

Is everyone naming it after Amazon's cheapest delivery option because it's well recognised or was it being used even before Amazon took off?
