Subscription e-mails for posts seem to be random

Dear UKBF people,

It seems to me (although I could be wrong of course) that update e-mails from the UKBF site for posts I'm subscribed to are quite erratic.

Sometimes they seem to work, other times I'll stumble across threads that I've replied to that have since received other replies and I haven't been updated.

Anybody else experience the same thing?

Si

All,

Firstly, please read your notification emails - I'm pretty sure they say:
There may be other replies also, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again.
It notifies you of only the first reply to a thread you're involved in - this is to stop your inbox being crammed with notifications if you're subscribed to multiple, busy threads.

It's always worked this way.

If you're still convinced that something isn't working correctly, please double check that your subscription list is set up to feed you emails for your subscribed threads. If they're genuinely not getting through, that could be a different issue (mail server, spam filter, etc) and we can find out what's going wrong.

Ahh dear. This is what happens when people who don't know what they're doing become Administrators.

You wouldn't get a Shopkeeper Administrating an Oracle DBA...

Or maybe you would :D

Thanks for suggesting that we don't know what we're doing. :|

It wasn't a suggestion :) I don't think you guys do. Since the take-over, these forums have been up and down more than a jumping kangaroo on speed.

Give me reason not to believe that.

From what I recall they've been 'down' 3 times:

1. When the forum got moved to new servers after the handover of the forum.

3. When the new skin/additions got installed.

3. 2 Weeks ago due to the 123-Reg DNS issue which could have happened when Ozzy had the forum.

Apart from the DNS issue which affected several thousand businesses, the downtime has hardly been that bad.

My forum notifications are working fine.

I'd agree with all the above and would add that the Forum is much faster for me nowadays

The only times we've had to take UKBF down are when:

1) we migrated from Ozzy's servers to ours; and
2) when we implemented the latest vBulletin software and redesign. We gave members prior notification of both of these events.

The 123reg problem recently was nothing to do with us, and we've now moved the domains across to our own registrar.

I really don't see what you're getting at, nor for what purpose - you just seem to aggravating a non-existent situation. If there's a problem you want to air, please do let me know and I'll do my best to resolve it.
