Strange Windows 7 issue

Hi all,

Have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit edition on the laptop, and wanted to uninstall Avast. Had a look and couldn't see it in the usual add/remove progams area, so downloaded the uninstall utility and tried booting to safe mode.

The odd thing is, a few seconds after the logon screen comes up for safe mode, the latop reboots itself! I tried looking for a logged boot for safe mode, but couldn't spot anything - can anyone suggest how I could potentially pin down the cause?

Thanks!

Sound like memory not being allocated properly in safe mode. Don't realy know what to do about that, could be a permissions problem or a hardware issue although not likely. You could try a recover to a time before you installed avast.

I'm surprised you could not uninstall avast I've installed and uninstalled it 100s of times. IS not the uninstall in the program menu as an option ?
