Stock images

Im looking to buy some stock images to use on a website and a poster but a bit surprised at how many sites there are now.I bought some 4 years ago and it seems things have moved on a fair bit with loads of sites to choose from.

Any recommendations of decent sites with fair prices.

Looking for baby massage pictures mainly.

iStockPhoto is the one I've used the most. The prices are reasonable and there's a large selection of content to choose from.

Be very very careful when purchasing stock images. Make sure there is an audit trail otherwise you could end up paying thousands $$$$$$ to people like Getty or Corbis who are waiting to pounce. Google Getty and Corbis, and you'll see what I mean.

Fotolia has lots of UK specific ones, which I prefer to the generic American photos.

This exactly why i started this thread, its all changed since i last needed images.

I just want decent sites i can buy from without all this crap.

picturenation.co.uk is a UK stock site that has been running for a bout 12-15 months now. The quality is good as are the prices. They are also still of a size where they will put on their forum what Picture Requests specific customers are asking for. The members will then go and take the photos to meet the need.

Another good one is fotolibra.com

FWIW I use iStock. No complaints to date...relatively cost effective and a use friendly website.

Only complaints that I've ever heard related to Getty going after people for thousands
