    Hey @Ozzy

Have you thought about offering stuck threads at the top in Marketplacepermanently for a fixed weekly or monthly fee? Could offer 1-6 sticky threads ie £25/month for the sticky thread. £25 x 6 slots are an additional £150/month

I'd like one if not too expensive and I could get a discount for suggesting it and increasing your revenue (not that you need it) :p

Just an idea anyway. Saves me reposting the same ad every 2 weeks .

Edit: of course, go by first come first serve and can increase the cost over time. Good to test demand for it first.

We do receive 10-30 emails a day wanting to buy sticky threads for all sorts (although usually gambling which I won't entertain as hate it), it just isn't a road I want to go down really.
Not a bad idea restricting it to Marketing although £25 a month will cost me about that in admin/finance staff overhead to manually manage it, it won't be profitable.

    Fair enough.

I used to pay $250/week for web hosting ads and $150/week for reseller hosting ads at a different forum but stopped paying it because I wasn't getting the sales like I used to. But the forum still has many members buying ad space, so the forum must be making a decent amount; otherwise, they wouldn't keep offering them. But the forum is mainly targeting non-UK businesses, and so likely explains why it isn't effective for UK businesses as much anymore.

But UKBF is more for UK businesses. That said, I've been posting ads in the UKBF Marketplace for several years and hardly get any sales from there. I did initially, but I think that's when the first page displays a lot more offers. Now it only shows 3-4? I think the ad gets lost with all the free ones posted there!

Social sites killed a lot of forums etc. We just have to deal with it.

Maybe it’s because many visitors to the site already have hosting. Your offer may be tempting but the thought of moving everything over is far too worrying. With hosting it’s rarely about the money, it’s about the level of service. Maybe you could make a big deal of the migration service you provide. And you say your servers are in the USA. That puts people off.

Change the marketplace offer and you might get more leads.

Thank you for the feedback, fisicx. We offer UK and USA server locations.

You are right about emphasising migration work. But many do go by price, unfortunately. Some seem to think you can get the best web hosting for £0.99p per month. That barely covers gateway fees etc. That is why we go the quality, not quantity route, but that allows us to offer the best server uptime and performance.

Do you know anyone who can do quality ad copy? Do you offer such services? If so, please PM ME.

    Thank you.

The adverts in the marketplace don't generate much interest because the adverts are (pretty much without exception) terrible. It's a classic case of doing an awful job of using a particular channel for promotional marketing, and then presuming the channel doesn't work when you get no results.

I've had many people tell me the marketplace on here doesn't work (over the years) but their adverts have always been terrible.

Yes, but you are advertising on a UK forum. Maybe you need a landing page for UK businesses. I looked at your homepage and didn’t understand half the technical information. Sorry for hijacking the thread a bit but your landing page is more important than the advert.
