Stealth Spamming

I am sure a huge amount gets removed before we even see it but there seems to be an increase in (what I call) Stealth Spamming lately.

Here is the latest example:

http://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=53742

The guys in the thread are REALLY annoying as they have tried the same with many forums including my own.

I would advise new members to be very careful about responding to new members making their first post with a question like "does anybody know a good....etc.?) You may end up wasting your time.

We do the best we can to avoid and delete spam but ones like the example you gave get through a lot more as they are harder to spot (as it looks at first as if they are having a normal conversation). But please if you do see anything like this point it out to us - either by using the report button or sending myself or one of the mods a quick message.

I've deleted the post in the thread you mentioned which was advertising the website and keep an eye on those two members.

Thanks Dotty. :)

This sort of spamming really inflames me as well.

At least they are fairly easy to spot and easy to confirm with the help of the search engines.

Of course if people were to fill the rest of the thread up with derogatory but not libellous comments recounting how a 'friend' found dealings with the aforementioned website / company atrocious.....

Well, who could blame them?

Mind you, easier just to click on the red triangle.

lol They are certainly setting themselves up for this sort of thing!

The thing I find a bit odd with the Frontier site is that it looks quite professional and IIRC has a was created by a respectable UK developer. The spammers that left messages on my Horsham forum both had Indian IP addresses. I am not sure that Frontier are directly involved, maybe the design company outsourced the SEO to an Indian firm.

Frontier might not even be aware of what is going on - they are about to find out though, Ling of Dragons Den fame (and who incidentally owns a rocket launcher) said in the other thread that she was going to confront them.
