Hello there,
I run a small company with one employee currently on maternity leave.
My company's already paid out about £2600 in SMP and this is impacting our cash flow. I applied for recovery/funding of statutory maternity pay mid october. I received an automatic email saying that they aimed to deal with the request within 4 working days and that a cheque would then be issued (no time frame for the sending of the cheque was mentioned). But 2 weeks later I haven't received any payment from HMRC yet and we have another £2200 or so worth of SMP to pay until the employee goes back to work.
I assume our application will be successful. So how long should it take for us to receive the payment? Is it worth phoning them or too early?
Have you claimed smp funding/reimbursement before and how long did it take for you to get the cheque? Did you get the whole amount for the expected duration of the maternity leave in one go or only the amount already paid to the employee?did you have to submit a claim for every subsequent payment to the employee?
I've searched the HMRC website for answers to these questions but didn't find any and got more confused instead. So I thought I'd ask you.
Thank you
