I am planning to start to launch a Discount/Coupons/Voucher codes website an Affiliates Partner Business. I will sign up with some Affiliate Network company to get the coupons and display and promote these coupons through my website to the visitors. I will use the various social medias, Blogs and news-letter method to promote this.

I have few concerns about this, first - Do I need to register this as a company in company house or whether I can run as a Sole Proprietor? Please note at present I want to do it by myself till it proves right for me.

Secondly, I wanted to know what rules of GDPR I have to comply with in regard to my business model? Where and how can I get more information and necessary advice about the necessary legal requirements. I am trying to consult the Business consultant but they are charging a lot on hourly basis. But is there any other organisation who can provide me with thorough guidance as far as all legal formalities are concerned in this sort of business?

I also like to know what things I should be careful of, specially about data Proctection GDPR rules to follow while dealing with the online visitors, etc, etc…. Any comments on pros or cons of this type of business is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

The first thing you need to be clear about is what information are you planning on collecting from your 'customers'? Do you know if you actually need to collect any information from people? These sort of sites often work using cookies. Would be worth clarifying with your supplier how you actually qualify for commission and what you need to do.

As far as GDPR compliance is concerned it's too detailed to list here, but there it's highly likely you can find a free course to learn either online or attended. Try your local council business support initiatives. For example here in the East Midlands we have D2N2 hub which has been invaluable for all sorts of reasons. There's bound to be one close to you...unless you're East Mids as well :)

One of the things to bear in mind is that if you do have assets then these will be personally protected as a limited company in a legal case for example, whereas this is not the case if you operate as a sole trader. Probably not a factor if short term, but worth being aware of if you are not already.
