Starting new pet store Help needed

Hi everyone,

In need of a bit of advice as i'm currently looking at opening a new pet shop in a busy town.
I currently run a business teaching with exotic animals in schools. I have also run a pet store before that specialised in exotic animals but only worked that shop as the manager.

I've never started a retail business before and don't have a great deal of cash for the start up so will be looking at how I can do this on finance or credit etc.
Im planning on catering for all animals.

Im after any helpful info for a start up business in this field.

Do you have the bones of a business plan - in particular cashflow - together?

Availability of funding will be dependent on a variety of factors, including the strength of the overall plan, what you are putting in and what you can offer by way of background security.

You could investigte local grants, but try to categorise your business as something other than retail (concentrate on your education / training activities) in applications.

Hi Scott

I can't really help you on the ins and outs of your shop as I don't have my own, but I do make pet clothing and accessories which i sell at events and online. Do get in touch if you are looking for a supplier and something a bit different.
