Starting My Security Company

Hi, after alot of thought and research I have decided to start a security company of my own. I know there are hundreds out there but, hey there alot of pizza shops and hairdressers.

Anyway, does anyone out there own there own security company or own their own business that can answer the following for me:

1) Where can I get uniforms made up for my guards to wear. I am down in the south, so would be good to find a company not too far away.

2) How can I get application forms and all other forms needed to run my business. I.E All HR forms, holiday forms,

3) As, I have not go alot of money is it appropriate to ask the customer for advance payments as this will give me the money to pay everyone without using my own money?

4) With Public Liability Insurance, can I just pay one payment which covers me for everything or will I have to have a seperate insurance for every contract I get? Also anyone know any reasonable priced companies that give insurance out for security companies.

Thanks

Mark

public liability insurance is easy. most just depend on turnover and numbers of staff. you just add to it when you hit the limits.

Everyone is short of cash so very hard to get anyone to pay upfront except for an event where it is a given as often organisers might lose money and scarper.

If you are running an event or whatever you cant get insurance unless the company providing the security are certified. so make sure your company is.

Dont try to get away without insurance or the qualifications for your staff. it invalidates your insurance and if something goes wrong you will be personally responsible for all the actions (or lack of action) of your staff. ou cant hide behind a ltd on this. One of your guys who has not had the training just has to hit someone or make a 50/50 decision that turns out wrong even if it isnt their fault. No certification and thats you in the dock. I have heard horror stories. so beware.

Thanks Moneyman.

I am aware of getting insurance for all my staff I just was not sure if I had to get insurance everytime I gained a new contract or if I could pay one lump sum and be insured, doesnt matter how many contracts I get.

I want to be insured for at least £5m. If I get the contract which I am after it will be for a managing agent which looks after a shopping centre. It will be 5 security guards in total, which I think will be a good starting place and turnover will be around £160,000 including vat.

Any ideas on the other questions?
