Hi Guys,

I am going to open a new online business in UK. At first, it will be a website, and after I am going to increase the number of websites up to 10, and they all will be selling the same brand. My here everything is clear.

I live in UK, but I am not the resident of UK and I don't have a company. Right now I am a student in university and soon will try to get my Tier 1 Postgraduate Visa which will allow me to stay in UK for 2 more years.

First of all, I want to open a company in UK. I found a website which can do it, however I am not sure what package to choose. Maybe, someone can help me, please. Here is their offers companiesmadesimple.com/company-formation-name-search.html

After I will open a company I would like to receive payments online from my customers. I am going to use either HSBC or Barclays merchant accounts. What documents they will ask to open a merchant account ?

Many thanks in advance !

Hello,

If you're planning to put up a shopping cart for your products or services, one of the first things you have to consider is finding the best e-commerce Platform. Content Management is also a feature which should be there. And as far as my choice is concern i recommend you vplanetcommerce.com which i think is the best ecommerce platform with best SEO which will attract more customers to your store.
They provide SaaS based e-commerce and ERP solutions based on vPlanet Commerce product. They will also handle your doubts of payment transactions. you can mail them there id is given on their website.

Thanks

Hi Paneuromedia,

Good luck with your online business.

You can find all the information you need to open and run a business in the UK from the businesslink.gov website section on starting up. Its a great resource as it's official govt information that's really easily laid out and easy to understand.

When you've got all that, they even have information on what you'll need to open a merchants account etc. Just type in accepting online payments.

Last and probably one of the most important things you can do to make your business a success, is to choose the right ecommerce website to sell online. So check out Volusion on google if you decide to use the ecommerce platform, then mention me to the consultant you speak to and they will arrange some free Google ad vouchers to kick start your marketing.

Best of luck...!!

Merchant UK

The most important thing with any online business is getting RELEVANT traffic onto your site - by far the cheapest way being a good value search engine optimisation service.

WRONG!!!

The post important thing if your a Student from overseas and have come here on a student visa you have to ensure that you have permission to become self employed and start your own business.

9/10 cases this will not be possible. You will not be able to open your business, because you will not be able to pay any taxes or national insurance, You will also not be permitted to take out any business insurance, you can try but it will be invalid, In short, why don't you just do what you got your visa to do, study???

Its not one of those Computer Universities, above a chip shop in leytonstone is it??

Agree with you there, student visa's don't allow you to start up a business. Us genuine businesses already have to battle competitors let alone those who sell with no consideration to the tax/vat liability.

Even stranger is that you want to create ten sites all selling the same products, very odd!!!
