Hi is there any one that would'nt mind giving me a few tips on starting a website?

I'm wondering what is the best website to register and host my website from and also the best place to register an email address.

I'm new to all of this, any help would be much appreciated.

I know that's not a very helpful piece of advice, but what I mean is that IMHO the differences between hosts and so on, in terms of what they provide at the 'entry level' is so slight you're better off looking at how they present their controls to you. The interface can make a difference between a 10 minute job and an hour's job!

Find what works for you.

What a open question everyone here will have there friends and stuff to recommend , there is millions of web hosters out there .

Important issues you must decide before jumping in is .

1 . Is your target market going to be UK or Worldwide ?
2. Is your product going to be competative ie , Insurance - Gifts- Finance etc . or a niche market like Gingerbread making tools ?
3. Do you want cheap and suffer slow page loads ,downtime etc.
4. Do you intend to build your own website ? so need good FREE web build program included ?

If you answer as below.
1 - UK
2 - Its popular gift shop online
3 - Speed is important and want it online 24/7
4 - Yes i want to make my own with a simple program .

Then go for a UK based web hoster , not the cheapest .
Go for co.uk domain name , and choose a good domain name containing gifts in the name ie ' wehavebestgiftsonline.co.uk etc etc
email then choose wehavebestgiftsonline@ gmail.com this you can easily access from any pc anywhere in the world.

offer all that ,

Digital Ark

Hi Mark,

If it is for a charitable or similar good cause I can provide a web hosting package with .co.uk domain and e-mail for £19.99 a year or £1.79 a month.

I also provide a personal service and have helped a number of similar projects.

All the best

Simon

you can honestly start up on wordpress with a free template and pay £3-£10 a month on hosting. Depending on what you need the site for, you can easily put up a few lines of text and contact number etc.

If youre looking to go more advanced then you are probably better off talking to someone in the know, you can set up on-line shops using pre-made templates and affiliate systems etc for next to nothing but pay a commision, or if you want a full blown system tailored to you, hire a pro.
