Hi

We have found a site with play equipment already in and almost a complete severery. It needs refurb but ok, can anyone offer advice?

We have 3 children under 8 and don't wish to put them at risk. I have lots and demographic info, and see some of the old owners paperwork etc.

The greatest concern is can i support my family with such a business?!

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Cheers

There are a few of these play centres in Cardiff that charge quite a bit and always seem busy. I think one is called play and another is called jump (possibly a chain). They also charge a fair whack for birthday parties which consist of a separate 'party room' where they serve the food & drink and play musical chairs and other simple things to keep the kids entertained. Depending on the size of the place you may need a few staff, then consider things like public liability, H&S etc. Hope that's of some use to you.

Jump is part of a "chain" of 3 centre the latest being in Cardiff at a cost of £350K.

McDonalds are franchises so that would heavily depend on the owners, the one's around me don't have the space and no others will be built due to planning rules.

I'm aware that some close, but as this site won't have the high over heads of purchasing the equipment which can rank into the 100K's. I believe we are in a better position than most. Also I've managed public leisure centre so understand the management of such.

My is to understand some owners experiences, plus tips from like minded people

If the site is in a good location with good parking access then this could be a great business. There are a couple of these near where I live and they are always busy. I think the secret for both of these is that they are reasonably big, probably 3 x a wacky warehouse.

In terms of the business model, it probably can't be much simpler! Once you have purchased the equipment and building there's not a lot more to it.

Make sure you are properly insured. Accidents do happen to children in these places.
