You need planning permission firstly, and business rates will be rated per square foot outside as well as in.

Buy your cars from auction, also guarantee part exchanges from garages - but these will tend to be more expensive than auction - so a good discussion will have to be had. Don't rely on a salesmans description - they are rarely accurate!

Tough game. The margins at auction cut to the bone for dealers as private punters bid well up to retail as they know they are pretty safe buying company cars.

If you have no experience. Don't know a decent trade sprayer and can't do basic service and repairs yourself then your wasting your time. If the site is a good position the only real option is to rent it outto an experienced dealer.

Traders will walk away if too many privates there - general rule is 50% of retail, a little more for a shining example. But stick to that and you won't go far wrong. Let the privates bid away, the more experienced traders get cheesed off and up their bids, dropping out at the last minute. This leaves the private paying more than they would retail - see it all the time!

Mind, I was at soton auction many years ago, when too many privates were sending the prices silly. The 6 cars which I had in mind, all went for too much. I had trained up that day as well, as my lift was unavailable! So I ended up buying a tatty old maestro with a wekks tax/mot for £1, no buyers fee, just a scrapper....best bargain ever!

I got in the stinking crate and discovered it had 3/4 tank of petrol, drove it home and weighed it in for scrap that weekend - got £42! excellent!:D

50% off retail. My your living in the past. Love the story of the cheapie.

I got caught in a snow blizard late one afternoon so dived into the pub and for over 2 hrs it chucked it down. Came out to find buses cancelled trurned arounf looked in the newsagents window and saw an old Thames van for sale £25 quid and just around the corner.

Covered in snow it was and no mot as just run out but the guy said it was a runner so I thought I would chance it bid him £15 quid and drove home no problem with a full tank olf petrol.

Next morning snow melted and there is there is 6 months too. Got a £10 quid mot and my younger bro ran that van for over 2 years and it started on the button every day where the problems with the Zodiac I bought 3 months later for a couple of grand I think is was you wouldn't believe.
