Hello all. I am contemplating starting a Savoury Pie and Pasty Business. We intend to aim at a range of good quality Products including range of Gourmet Pies etc. Too many are in honesty just gravy basically and of course have very low actual meat content. I envisage selling via online, Markets , Events and possibly outside sports venues. We would be based in Wales and indeed source the majority of our fresh Products from growers in Wales and use that as selling point. I realise that various exist already but we are going to rely on quality and not mass production . We will not be producing 7000 a day off one line and ours will basically be hand made. Any views re potential viability please. Of course we will wait and see what Truss is going to do the ever incrasing rediculous Energy Increases. Regards Vivian.

Good luck with this venture,. As you say, there are many others doing it, most of whom will be telling you about their superior quality.

You should be good selling at local events, markets etc (assuming you aren't amongst a load of other pie stalls); Online will be far harder to gain traction. I'd probably focus on local pages rather than national.

Relying on Government intervention is never a safe stance in business; you need to build a model that is resiliant to change.

Thankyou very much. I was not going to rely or even base it on what the Govt may do or not do, but watch it carefully because if they do decide to just let it ride - then 000's of excellent existing businesses may well fail =purely as a result of Govt action or lack of action. Personally I do not trust any of them an inch and think that Truss, by already accepting £100,000 donation even during her selection campaign from the Wife of High BP Executive rather proves to millions that has as much trust as Boris and crowd. She is out to stitch up the less well off - I believe. But we ,at the moment must live and survive so have to have some positive drive,

Go around the country and see what others do.

We have a very good one near us in the village of Twyford, they also do a lot of country shows as well as having a coffee shop on the side of their counter.

They are never empty in there but are always running out of pies (and sausage rolls) so must be doing a roaring trade

I think at least partly as they are right by Waitrose - i have been known to get a motorbike out to say i am going for a ride, when in fact I was going to them for a sausage roll
