Hi strangers!

I'm just wondering if anybody has used Squarespace?

I'm looking for an attractive website to sell my products on. I currently have four different products with multiple variations creating about 100 SKUs and will be looking to add more in the future.

I'm currently on the two week trial. It seems quite easy to create your content and add pictures. Adding your products also seems simple; even easier than eBay and Amazon. You have to use Stripe for accepting payments but the fees seem similar to PayPal.

Squarespace Business is $24 per month (c.£15) which I think is fairly reasonable.

Does anybody have any opinions on this or other recommendations?

Thanks.

Rob.

Hi Rob

I use the $10 Squarespace for a personal website that I like to keep changing. The editor is very good, and the websites it creates are fast, aesthetically pleasing and search engine friendly. I can't really speak for the Ecommerce.

What I would say is also look at Shopify, which is similar in some ways but a little more advanced (I think).

You can also consider rolling your own, which is more future-proof but harder to get set up. Have you also looked at OpenCart, Magento etc?

Thanks.

I plan on looking at the trial on Magento too. I will also look at Shopify and OpenCart now you've mentioned them!

Having played a bit more with Squarespace it is annoying me slightly. I might need to just spend more time with it but I'm finding it hard to customise certain aspects. Also, you don't seem to be able to select different aspects for the various images of your single product - i.e. I can't have one picture in portrait to show the whole item and then another picture in landscape to be able to show the product in use.

SquareSpace is, in our opinion, the best online website builder out there. They do a decent job and it is great when you have a limited range of products, it comes with mobile support

MagentoGo, to which I am assuming you're referring to, is great because there is no % of sales deducted and it allows you to have upward of 100 items without any hassle.

Both have their issues, as any DIY job does, but you've picked them right.
