Square terminal for card payments - anyone using one?

We've been with SumUp for 3 years.
Our card terminal has a 3G sim card and can only connect over the 3G network (latest hardware does WiFi, but not our model).

Getting fed up with it not connecting to a 3G network. It is supposed to "roam" between networks and connect to the one with the best signal.
When it does have a signal, it's very weak.

The device is really slow at handling transactions, which is a problem when I'm doing a show where there is a queue of people waiting to be served.
I'm not getting anywhere with SumUp support.

So I'm moving to another payment provider. We use Stripe for online payments (very good) so I just need one for in-person payments.

The Square terminal looks good. If you are using one, have you experienced any issues with the company? Any problems getting support?

Alternatively, what else should I look at?

Must be zero monthly cost and no contract.
Currently paying 1.69% per transaction with SumUp. I know Square is 1.75%.

Thanks
