So here we are, some time after the thread on here discussing the illegal trading of Rayzor Ltd as Sports Eyewear Ltd (a company that doesn't exist) on Amazon. I reported them for illegal trading on Amazon a few months ago and they took no action. Does anyone else share my disappointment that Amazon don't appear bothered about such practices?

A statement on their Amazon page reads:

"Sports Eyewear Limited has signed an Exclusive contract to Drop Ship rayzorinternational.com 's products through Amazon UK..."

So, that will be the owner making a contract and then signing it himself then :()

Here is a link to their rogue Amazon store front

Presumably there is something more to this story. On the face of it, this looks like a technical breach, rather than a major fraud... I guess it shouldn't be allowed, and Amazon should not allow it... but what's behind your anger?

With respect, it is not a technical breach. It is a cynical and deliberate ploy to fool customers into thinking they are buying his products for bargain prices because they are coming from a 'wholesaler' with 'an exclusive deal.'

It makes me cross because competition should be fair and legal on these sites. I bust a gut to make a living out of selling my products in an honest fashion and I expect Amazon, or any other respectable selling platform, to take action against those who break the law on their website.

Amazon's disinterest in this is breathtaking.

It is not just distasteful, it is illegal and so I won't be doing it, but thanks for the suggestion.

He has been getting away with it for a long time but let's face it, you never know when someone will catch up with you. He could get into some quite serious trouble for trading under a false limited company name, making false statements about his company and displaying a VAT registration number that belongs to his legitimate company only.

Not worth the risk in my view.

sport eyewear ltd and professional sportwear ltd, used on the site mentioned, don't exist on companies house web site.

According to Section 1197 of Companies Act 2006 - any unlimited company ending its name with: limited, public limited company, community interest company, community interest public limited company, or any abbreviations relating to the above...are liable to a fine.

If what you say is correct and it is illegal then there is only one course of action for you to take and that is to get a solicitor involved.

I can send you the details of the solicitors firm I use (they are very good) if you want (pm me).

However I would be very careful naming names on a public forum. If what they are doing is in fact distasteful rather than illegal then you are opening yourself to being sued. So whilst I can sympathise with your anger, use it wisely and start talking to a solicitor.

Steve, thanks but as the above poster said, it is plainly illegal. I would like to see them sue me for defamation when all I have done is quote the legal position of their dodgy trading practices! I haven't criticised their products in any way, or made any comments of a personal nature. I just want people to play the game fairly and they are not.

I am not going to sue them, I can't afford it and it isn't my place to do so anyway. I have reported them to Amazon (again) and also made a complaint to Companies House. There isn't really any more I can do, if those guys choose to take no action then I'll just have to accept that in certain instances, breaking the law really does pay for some people.
