Sponsorship

I have been offered a free stand at a large festival this year to raise awareness of drink driving and to test the punters before they drive home...

The organisers have no budget left and likewise the event sponsors although have said they would price it in next year (i've just missed the boat).

The organisers do want the service though so If could get sponsorship myself it could work however might need some pointers....

Any companies out there that can do this for you? I am short of time and want to cold call / mailshot as a last resort....

Any ideas?

what about approaching: http://www.drinkaware.co.uk/

Or you could approach a company who produce an alcoholic drink to have their sponsorship. Looks good if they are being responsible about drinking etc, and if its a big event like you said, they will probably be more than happy to.

Edit:

what I could also add is if they could get an exclusive agreement from the festival organisers to be main drink on the taps etc, you could probably approach them more easily.

Drinkaware i'm talking to however will give me no money as they only give to non profit companies.

RE the main drinks - they already have that in place from sponsors.

Yes thats the plan - drinks companies are the main target I just wanted to see what was out there with regards to companies that gain sponsorship on your behalf for perhaps a small fee.

I guess i'll get calling and mailshotting!

Just as an aside, if you test people and they show as over the limit, other than the obvious, what's the incentive for someone not to get in a car and crack on anyway - free buses to the train station, a massive police presence ready to nab anyone you point out etc?

I know it's slightly O/T but I wonder what the output is!

Most of the people we test would not drink drive. They feel 'a bit rough' or 'hungover' but would not knowingly drink drive. Once they find out their alcohol content they react in the right way. We normally setup and provide taxi numbers/transport or are near places where they can get some food / coffee to pass the time. After a while they come back for a retest.

The few people that dont mind drink driving and do it all the time would still drive regardless; however our service isnt targeted at these people. Its for the likes of you and me who may not be aware how long alcohol stays in our system. (mostly the morning after events) For corporate events employers will make sure people pass before leaving. We either issue a pass hand stamp or HR would be with us and check people off lists.

In passed events we have Police presence however to answer any drink drive questions etc not actually testing people.
