Sponsored links?

Hi,

I just want to say I'm sick of those sponsored links on Google. When you try searching for things, they bring mainly these up now and have no relevance to what you are searching for. It's making searching for things on Google total rubbish.

From now on I'm using MSN, tried it the other day and it was much better, lot less junk on.

If anyone knows of one to use to search that is even better than MSN, please feel free to add replies, as I'm so cheesed off with Google!

Jayne :D

I must admit, the MSM search brought up exactly what I was looking for straight away. Google makes you go through pages of it and you get fed up after a bit. I usually go and then get my business directory(old fashioned paper book) and usually find what I want much quicker. But i'll use MSN from now on.

Thanks John, i've not seen that one before :D

I'll send that link to my Sister. It was for here I was googling for. She's interested in starting a animal rescue centre and wanted to know how to go about it and if you can get grants from the government..

I think many people are starting to share your frustration Jayne!

Google have gone too far in trying to rule out the 'spammers' or those keyword stuffing. Google favours older sites too much (when gaining a hundred backlinks or so wasn't like gold-dust!)whether the content is updated often or not - and overlooks new sites just because they are just that...new.

Live.com sure looks interesting. Don't know if I like the scrolling frames - but maybe have to get used to it.

I live live.com personally.

There is a slider at the top right used to turn up or down the detail level returned in search results.

Ie just recieve a list of urls and page titles, or choose to display full result information and have the facility to search for a result just on one website.

Also all results are displayed on one page rather than having to keep loading up new pages (although I do realise this might be slower in loading initially)

Jayne,
I know someone who works at an animal rescue centre - Blackberry Farm in Buckinghamshire. I could put your sister in touch if you like - PM me.

Have to like MSN with my work in progress listed as the first item on a search for "stafford family history"

Whilst some of the google links are a waste of space and you get a few US sites when selecting UK only on the whole I do still prefer google for its speed and ease of finding things - normally just ignore the sponsored links

msn will have sponsored results all over it soon as they move more into the ppc advertising market.

i am sure google's filtering of adverts to make them more relevent can only improve....or at least let's hope so :?

holy schmo ! you made me look at live.com

I like it :) (but it does look a bit bland)

Being at the top of anything always feels good.
I am currently struggling on some other search engines.. for example on Yahoo I have slipped to a lowly 6th place for the term free local OK..it is out of 396,000,000 results  and i don't even make it onto the first page for free advertising

Google is definately an enemy right now, and i can't wait until Yahoo get their ppc advertising network into the UK. Hurry Up !!
