Many people would post here, asking for people to offer their services :)

I understand that, but I wasn't! My post was theoretical, not an actual tender as such. I didn't realise posting a question would result in so many PMs trying to sell their company!

I'm not having a go, but this is meant to be a forum for helping others in business, but the way it seems a lot of the time is an advertising space. :(

A little advice - be really really careful hiring a freelance developer if you aren't one yourself, or experienced in doing so.

It can be better instead to look around for a company with a reputation to protect.

I'm not saying this because we're the latter (I was once the former too!) but because I've seen what happens when non-technical people blindly hire techies. They get strung along, don't know how to specify what they want, and end up spending more than going to someone local. That local chap may outsource, but at least he's used to it and if he doesn't deliver it's Not Your Problem.

Hi,

Finding a software developer can be difficult and there are a lot of companies that get burned by inexperienced freelancers or contractors whether it's business or technical, for instance freelancers/contractors who dont charge enough lose interest in projects and if contracted for a specific amount of time may not produce the quality of software as someone who needs to support it longer term.

Try and find someone through recommendation, check references and find out what infrastructure they have if you're looking for someone to support the software after the initial development. Dont blow your budget on something cheap, it will be a lot more expensive the second time around.

Let me know if you need any advice on thi or future projects.

Good Luck!
