After spending time with my family over Christmas i realised that none of them use Pintrest, Instgram, very limited use of Facebook (once every couple of weeks just to have a nose at others) the only platform used by all (apart from my father, who uses bing via yahoo) was google search. This is based on 15 people from ages 21 to 74 all bar 1 went to university all employed (1 retired). With such a huge amount of effort everyone is making with social media advertising are you in-danger of focussing on a relatively small section of a possible customer base? Is there any other ways of hitting a larger audience other than Google ads which seem very hard to have success with unless you spend a fortune? I am not saying don't bother with social media as obviously millions use it as i am now. But how many people do not use it and how can we let these people know about our sites?

A sample size of 15 people is small, you know this.

But, you should only use the social sites that your target customers are using.

Where are your existing customers spending time? What magazines or newspapers do they read, where do they go socially what about TV programmes or radio? All these are potential spots for advertising, although your budget will dictate your ability to advertise in these areas.

Google Product Listing Ads should give you a better ROI than AdWords:

Facebook is obviously one of the most popular sites so if you're trying to find a way to reach these people other than Google or Facebook, you're going to have to look at offline media such as print ads/radio/tv etc.
