Hi everyone,

Just a quick question...:D

I was wondering whether social media - facebook, twitter, etc is good for generating business? If it is how much should one spend on such avenues?

Thanks,

Harris.

Firstly, put some thought into if potential customers are really using social media and, if so, which social media they're using most.

Social media can be very time consuming, so focus your efforts on just the one or two places that provide the best opportunities.

If you have £100 a month to spend, then you should spend it on creating great content tailored towards a social media audience.

You need content that people will Like, Share, Tweet, etc, and you need to be connected to people who will share it.

There's no shortcut to getting good connections. You have to put the time in yourself to reach out and communicate with people.

If nobody is even going to ask what type of business its for you just know any replies are going to be useless.

If its for a service based business your 100 quid per month would more than likely be better spent elsewhere.

Without knowing the business noone can really give a meaningful reply.

This question frustrates me because so many people ask it expecting to get a black and white YES or NO answer!

It's like anything else, it depends on your market and how you engage them.

Some people will make Millions from great social media campaigns and some won't ever make a penny.

Some will ask the question "does social media work?" and others will go out and find out.

Best of luck

Daniel
