Kids really enjoyed themselves, loads of presents which got a bit crazy

Boxing day was a bit of a boring day though. Went to the inlaws

Looking forward to getting back to normal though. I like the holidays but then the lack of normality gets a bit weird after a while.

Christmas Eve I had a buffet for the family and the presents were swapped and one was opened
Christmas Day was at my sisters and she put on a lovely untraditional meal cause apart from hubby none of us like turkey....gobble gobble I saved a bird
Boxing day we had the mother inlaw round for a 2 course meal....needless to say I know feel like a stuffed turkey
So all in all apart from the expense we had a very nice Christmas.

unfortunately I came down with this winter flu / man cold, hit me just in time for xmas day. Had a good time though. Boxing day was good, just spent the day chilling out, however I hate that after Christmas 'comedown', I don't really know whether to feel excited about another new year, or feel depressed christmas is over.

For me, Christmas ends on the 26th, I just want everything to get back to normal now to be honest.

Christmas Day started far too early - son got up for the toilet at 4.15am and spotted his stocking and letter from Santa, which he couldn't quite read without some help and the temptation of pressies was too great so he knocked on our door. I was already awake but was trying to go back to sleep.

After breakfast we had just enough time to get the Wii (our Christmas present to all 3 of us) out of it's packaging and son spent 10 minutes on the Bee Movie game we'd bought him before it was time for church, which is important to us especially on Christmas Day.

After a great family service at a church we'd never been to before (ours doesn't have a service on Christmas Day) we went to my parents' house about 25 minutes from home. We had a lovely day with my parents, sister and her puppy that she got from the RSPCA 10 days ago. Christmas with puppy and 5 yr old was interesting and a little challenging. After we'd come home and had put son to bed we got a chance to play on the Wii.

On Boxing Day we went to husband's mum's house (his dad died 5 yrs ago on 16th December) and Boxing Day was their wedding anniversary. We were joined by hubby's two sisters and 2 nieces and nephews along with a dog who is going deaf. The noise was almost unbearable! We rounded the day off with more time on the Wii.

Today we too advantage of the fact the Christmas park and ride was still operating and went into town and to spend our Christmas money. Normality resumes on Monday - hooray!

I love christmas. And its my birthday around this time too!! I spend christmas eve with my girlfriend and her parents which is nice. then i head home around 1am to my parents. We swap gifts and things. I must say usually i want to go back to work quickly but this year i am enjoying the relaxing break.

its been wall to wall relaxation for me. We don't do the visit relative thing, just me, my wife and kids and my FIL who pops in for the big day. Off now for the whole of next week doing - virtually nothing! bliss

 

Glad to be back to work. One person should not have to eat and drink so much in such a short period of time
