I want a phone that syncs with my contacts, email and calendar - is that too much to ask?

I have been a blackberry user for a long time. But it's inability to sync has driven me nuts. It can work but daft things like if i put that i am away at a conference for 3 days it blocks out those 3 days and then i can't see the other appointments in my calendar for that day.

I was hanging on for the Q10 but it seems they still haven't sorted their issues, so reluctantly I am looking at the iphone which i know will work.

BUT, i don't want an iphone. So looking at Galaxy S4 it seems that the main 'workaround' is to use google apps and sync the diary. I don't want that.

I'm not that bothered about apps although I'm sure some will be useful but i do want to browse (another failing of the blackberry)

Does anyone know phones, other than iphone that can do this please.

I presume the big question is what you want it to sync from or to.
I use a Samsung SIII and can't fault it but then I use google apps for business for all my contacts, email and calendar so every device that I have (Desktop pc, laptops, phone and tablet) are all in perfect sync.

For my business partner (and wife) she uses outlook so uses google sync on her desktop to sync her outlook mail, contacts and calendar to the google apps account (and vice versa)

I had the same issue with my old blackberry, but just got a Q10 and as it now supports Exchange Active Sync is all working perfectly.

It's mostly down to which type of server and connection you are using for your emails, if you are on hosted exchange then it will all work.

It's not actually a fault of the blackberry device itself as I supported over 500 devices all of which worked perfectly, but that was down to the setup on the servers. Guessing your email provider doesn't properly support blackberry so you are simply using IMAP to access emails.

If you are using IMAP/POP3 to download emails to your phone and local Outlook then you won't be able to sync your calendar without using a workaround as neither of those protocols support it, just email I'm afraid.

Just to add also some mobile phone providers (Three being an example) don't support BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) which is whats needed to synch calendar and contacts.

So even with hosted Exchange with a provider who gives you BES it still won't work unless you go for a Q10 and use Active Sync instead.

I have an S3 for personal use which is brilliant, but as I write a lot of emails when out and about a Q10 was the only device with a proper keyboard and so was the best choice for work use.

I've been using a Q10 for 2 weeks now and haven't had any issues with calendars, contact sync etc.

Only thing I don't like is that they have removed the navigation button, so when editing emails you havthe touchscreen to move the cursor. But still easier than with a full touchscreen.

There is also a Q5 which is like a cutdown Q10, not such a good camera etc, but it is a lot cheaper.

Hi

As per last last reply by Paul, Which mobile network do you currently subscribe to as the BES feature will allow you to have the sync options that you require, Bis add ons (Blackberry Internet Server) which is maybe what you currently have will not allow that facility.

I currently offer Mobile Business Solutions so I can look at available handsets with the facilities you need if you want to drop me a line and we can look at it for you.

Kind Regards

Paul
