    Hiya,

I think this is the correct place to post this?

I recently purchased a course from Udemy and found a lot of value in it to do with instagram. I am looking at purchasing one for facebook ads next as well as other courses in the future. The courses are around £10-£15 (says its a reduced price but I would say that's just a to pressurize the sale).

This is obviously one off payments for each course. However skillshare you pay so much a year. Would you guys say skillshare is better in terms of resources? Comes out at £13/month or £84 billed once a month.

    Thanks,

Ive not used Skillshare (not heard of it) but use Udemy alot for a range of stuff.

Id personally for training/self teaching rather pay as I go on the Udemy model...simply because its most likely I won't be using it all the time.....id do a course then not log-in again for several months etc.

In that time you obviously paying a subscription you basically don't use or might forget about.

With Udemy regarding price I agree there is some skulduggery at work (as there always is in selling ) but the top rated courses are definitely worth alot more than £10 and its an insult to suggest otherwise.

The preview videos, course lists and reviews give a good indication of what your in for and as long as you stick to the courses that have good reviews, good 'student count' and well presented content I think they probably are worth the stated top dollar.......just wait for the sales though to buy them.

Obviously Udemy is an american site, I wouldn't touch any of the accounting/taxation or any of that kind of stuff on it due to the legal differences.

    My 2 cents

Think I will stick with Udemy, as you say I won't be buying courses every month either.

I will be staying away from the Tax stuff on Udemy. I am currently a sole trader (starting Amazon FBA). I have done this to test the water but once I see cashflow/regular income ile go Ltd (so i've been recommended) and most people within the Amazon FBA marketplace tend to leave all the tax stuff to an accountant. Probably the case with most Ltd companies?

    Thanks for replying :)

Some people will do their own accounting as a Sole Trader even as a small Limited Company.

I used High speed training and did the starting a business and taxation courses.

This is just to have some idea regarding accounting and tax as even with an accountant its still your responsibility (as Sole trader or Business Owner) to check that your accountant is doing his/her job correctly and to do that you do need some idea what is going on :) .

Very true. I know a lot use Xero software with another piece of software (A2X I think its called) which links Amazon to Xero and inputs amazon invoices automatically :) Will look into a related course. I was told I don't really need software like Xero accounting being a sole trader but ide imagine it makes it a lot easier.

That will largely depend on how much you think you're gonna be using either of these. With Udemy you pay for the course and get to keep the course content after you complete the course. With Skillshare, you keep access to the courses for as long as you're paying for your subscription. That being said, if you're only planning to use it for two or three courses, it will be a waste of money because you won't be able to go back to review the material if you choose to cancel your subscription. Udemy would be better because you will be more selective content-wise and will 'invest' your time and money more rationally.

P.S. I'm pretty sure Skillshare has a free trial so you can see if it works for you!
