Could someone please tell me how I access size of the market in £'s for different sectors?
You know how like on Dragons Den where they are pitching, say, a car safety device, and they will quote figures to the annual value of car safety devices?
I would suggest that you simply type your request into google and it will bring up various sites that have used figures for specfic markets.
For example: "number of unemployed in great britain" brings up the official govt site and the following information.
11 Feb 2009 ... ILO-defined unemployment in October to December was 1.97 million (6.3%) ... the latest figures on the number of people claiming Jobseekers ... www.hrmguide.co.uk/jobmarket/unemployment.htm - 26k -
You can get basic free info from the sources suggested, but if you need in-depth information, and market trends, then you might need to go through a recognised market research company.
The likes of Keynote and Mintel do some very detailed market research...but they charge accordingly!
If you know a University student they are often able to get direct access to a Mintel report for free, which is better than the £1000+ that Mintel always try to charge.
