I seem to remember a few years ago being told about a rather big site where people can post offers of work they need done (building/gardening/plumbing etc), tradespeople can then send quotes, and each trader account has feedback and reviews from previous customers.

Now I'm in a position where I need to use such a site I can't seem to find anything like it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Are you joking! Do you watch much tv or use google, these sites are everywhere!lol

If you want a tradesmen i would suggest you ask a friend or family for a good recommendation instead

if your a tradesmen looking for work i would spend your advertising budget more wisely, rather than line the pocket of these companies, you will be one of many desperate tradesmen bidding for the same leads and the winner will normally be working for absolute peanuts, the only real winner being the middleman who bill you for the lead then a % of the work afterwards

I found that the reviews on these sites are pretty pointless. Some of the people in there work for peanuts and therefor the customer thinks its great, even though the standard of work is crap. Tradesmen still get good reviews for being crap but cheap. Be careful!

We have plenty of enquiries for the larger end jobs - whole extensions, garage conversions, loft conversions, re-roofs that sort of thing, but we don’t do leads for smaller jobs.

When we get smaller enquiries we generally just pass them free of charge to our customers.

For smaller projects, MyBuilder, Rated People, Service Magic all do a decent job.
