Hi
You can add a link to your sig by becoming a paid up member - details here : http://ukbusinessforums.co.uk/forums/faq.php?faq=membershiplevels#faq_memberlevels

H

Thanks.. and indeed. However as a contributing non-paid member with over 30 posts I feel it should be my privilege to do this without paying. Taking the time out to create a stronger community here by aiding members via pm and open-discussion is my contribution thank you very much. and you expect ME to pay for a sig link?

I recall being asked by a moderator to remove my sig until I hit 30 posts:

We currently have a rule in place that allows users to have a URL link in their signature after 30 posts that are judged to be of use to the forum. Based on that, can I please ask you to remove the link you have written in your signature.
yet your rules state

rules said:
As a free registered user you are able to post messages in most forums, excluding the Events or Press Releases sections. This means that you can ask questions, take part in discussions, and answer questions.
You can also have a short signature appended to all your messages, but you will not be able to have any links in your signature.

*sigh*. Sme clarification would have been nice... perhaps if the moderator had posted this link to me I might not be so peeved now.

Also, paying 36 pounds pays for what? entry to a forum with 56 posts and another forum which I am not interested in... no thank-you. I think it is more reasonable to add a 30-50 posts rule to deter spammers - rather than restricting proper active members from posting a sig....

obviously the forum has costs [hosting/vbseo/vbulletin etc], - and paying members contribite to this - however what do non-paying members get? crippled permissions...

I feel this particular stipulation is a bit daft. (note that I am not trying to be a whiner/troll or whatever.., this is just feedback and my feelings.. ) - the sig link is one of the last real rewards a forum can permit its good users.. remember - these good users make the forum..

Cheers

A link in your sig! ;)
oh so ukbf is selling links.. I don't pay for links.

Surely you'd consider the low membership fee very good value for the information and networking you can do here?

nope. I share my expert advice FREE on this forum, and expect to tap into the hive due to this fact... I don't want greater access- just the ability to sig. I mean - I can use a text sig. what difference does a hyperlink make - unless you are essentially using links as a selling point (or if you look at it from a different perspective it equates to selling links.)

Cmon mods.. what's the Official Line?

I dont think one day to reply to this message is unreasonable at a weekend considering we all have a personal life outside of work and forum life, and no I have not had a PM from you so no I am not ignoring - you just simply haven't sent me a PM :)

If you read all the list of benefits on that page above you will see that you get a hell of a lot for just £36 a year, not just a signature link, so no I am not selling links on here.

That is the way it is, and I am not prepared to make an exception just for you or just for a few people because I do not want those floodgates open.

We have different group levels here just like many other forums have different levels of membership. Some forums don't even allow signatures at all.

You have a choice to use these forums for free and have the usability that is provided for free, or to upgrade your membership for £36 a year and have the usability options available at that level of membership. The choice is yours to make, and at either level you get use of the busiest and largest active business forum in the UK.

I am going away on holiday for a week in the morning, so if you do reply to this I'm afraid I wont be in a position to answer any further comments from you for at least a week :D

agreed, however you misunderstand. I was told 30 posts was the prerequisite by a mod. hence my confusion and subsequent queries.

anyway it's cool - and rules are fine by me as long as I know what they are ;)
    cheers
