Good Afternoon All

I tried to set up a signature for the forum but a message appeared saying that a BB CODE URL IS NOT AllOWED AND IT ALSO SAID THE SIGNATURE COULD NOT BE MORE THAN 80 CHARaCTERS.

Below is the signature I was trying to set up up.

What am I doing wrong and what should it be?

Well I never paid for my signature!

The rule used to be 'so many posts'

Actually I just tried to change my signature and I get the same problem, things must have changed since I joined this forum!! Whats that all about then??

£36 quid for something that used to be free!!!

Sounds like exploitation to me

No it sounds like a business generating income from it's forum and offering a service to users who actually want to dip their hands in their pockets and pay to effectively advertise on what is one of the countries busiest forums.

The amount of business I get from direct clickthroughs on links in my sig has paid for the membership fee many, many times over so it's worth every penny IMHO...

Seems like a really turn off to me, don't get me wrong I'm all for making money, but, I use a number of forums, some a lot bigger and busier that this one and they do not charge for signatures - in fact what we are actually saying is that this is a membership fee... hmm! I may consider, but, I know many other forums where I can get away without paying an exclusive membership fee, after isn't this a discussion board not a network group.

    Well, for one example...
    sitepoint.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Which is not a business forum directly dealing with UK businesses from every walk of life...;)

It is an Internet related forum. At the end of the day UKBF has it's own rules, no one is holding a gun to your head and say pay it. If you don't want to pay to become a premium member and get the benefits that go along with it then don't...

I haven't paid for premium membership but I get the benefits of having a signature (although after this thread I'm sure I'll lose it), for new members they have to pay for something that I get for free - is that fair.

also, you're right sitepoint.com is not a business forum dealing with uk business etc. target audience 'n all! I can see your angle but, my original point was about exploitation not strategic marketing.

I guess I was just a little disgruntled at seeing this paying for signature malarkey for the first time , if you're happy to pay it then so be it.
