Shopify payments

I'm setting up a new e-commerce shop and have narrowed the platform down to 2 or 3 choices. One big attraction of Shopify is their own payments processing option, no need to set up a merchant account etc. For a quick start this is particularly attractive and if the site grows we can change to a better/more cost effective option.

Has anyone any experience of this part of Shopify ?
Is there another cart system that has their own payments processing - I can't find one ?

Shopify has its own payments system but you'll need to check terms to ensure what you will be selling falls in-line with this otherwise you will need to look at an alternative payment provider (and still pay processing fees on top with Shopify). Which other platforms are you considering? Often 3rd party processors can work out cheaper with more accessible support.

Shopify payments is basically just Stripe.

As you are just getting started, I wouldn't be considering a merchant account just yet. That is something to look at when you are getting a good amount of sales on a regular basis. Best bet would be a combination of PayPal and Stripe, pay as you go pricing and easy to sign up/get started.

Hello,
We build a lot of Shopify stores for clients and it is a good feature to add. Having multiple payment options is attractive to a wider range of customers. I say go for this with Shopify, see how it goes then alter your options after you've measured how well it works for you. You should also look at integrating Klarna as that's good alongside PayPal. As others have mentioned, ensure you are covering all of the terms first and also have a guest checkout available (if you can).

Dont worry about payment processing too much get your sales with FB testing and retargeting, try Bing too very cheap.

Get your Platinum product prominent on your home page after you have run your initial ads for your products and see in your Shopify and FB analytics which product your clients are most interested in, that your Platinum product, Oberlo has great tutorials for Shopify.

FB and Bing ads initially are for data so you will make a small loss until FB gets the data you can use to advertise you best seller products..
