Hi all,

I run an online store but have excess stock I need to shift. I'm currently running a Black Friday sale offering 40% off but at the rate we're not making sales I don't think we'll manage to shift it all.

I've called a few independent retail stores around London to see if they'd be interested in wholesale acquisition...no such luck.

Any ideas??

When I closed down my online store, ebay was the place I got rid of most of my stock.

I found the same thing, trying to get other retailers to buy at trade less a big % and they were not interested.

But list on ebay at 50% of retail price and the sales happen.

If you have an ebay shop, create a shop category called 'b' stock ....list one of the items you wish to clear on your ebay shop as non b stock at a higher price, then another in your b stock category at a much lower price (your bottom line price), punters love a graded item or discount because of the likes of damaged packaging etc. quite often I sell perfect items as B stock, just to move them (to me this method is better than trashing the overall price)

    Hi all,

Thanks for all your feedback - not sure how I missed your replies!

So, update, I did try eBay - but it failed miserably so frustrating! I listed some items for 50% off, others for 70% and still no takers. I had a look at other sellers that do well and copied their style of title and blurb regarding the amount and kind of descriptions given.

Re B stock ok that's a great idea and yes, does help regarding not diminishing our overall proposition.

We sell occasion dresses for women 20 - 35ish. They're sophisticated and sexy (i.e. not 'bandgage dresses' or stuff that you'd see in The Only Way is Essex haha).

I'll have a look at that URL you posted.

We tried pumping up marketing but it's basically been an exercise in no ROI and now we can't afford to keep pumping money in without any return - many followers/likers/visitors to the site but conversion isn't happening. Grrr.

Oh well, another day hopefully a dollar.... ;-)
