Share Excel With Others

Can anyone tell me how I can share excel sheets between 4 computers ?
I use Dropbox but constantly keep getting a conflict as 2 computers look at it at the same time.
Thanks.

Dropbox, one drive all deliver the same result when excel is receiving regular updates. It polls for updates than stream for updates.

An Microsoft Access database would probably resolve the problem, but it would need to hosted accessible other than Dropbox. However, there are downsides to this but it depends on your environment.

I have 365 on all comps but also use it on my iphone which is why I use Dropbox but can't be doing with the conflicted files all the time, hate one drive, never seemed to work, don't mind paying a subscription for it as long as it works !!

I'd agree with @MikeJ - Google Sheets would suit.

I used to use these when I had the call answering service, we'd have a sheet for each customer and keep a list of a customers' calls on the sheet. This meant all the telephonists could update it and the customer could see it "live" as well, if they wished.

Switch over to Google for Work - will manage all your emails, storage, sheets, docs and more. It will solve your immediate problem of collaborative working on one sheet and will no doubt solve many other problems that you might be having. Feel free to PM me if you would like to know more as we are Google partners and help business do this.

If you can live with one person having editing access at any one time, a technique I've seen used before is for the person opening the document for editing purposes to create an empty text file called "Joe Bloggs is editing xyz.xlsx. This file will be deleted when it is free.txt" in the dropbox directory. If someone needs in urgently, they can contact you and ask you to release the file.
