Serious Issues with Royal Mail - Lost Items

I'm sure it's just me right now but..... has anyone ever had a serious amount of mail go missing from the same date?

I run 4 different sites all using the same Royal Mail account, and this week we have had 20+ claims that the items dating from the weekend around the 10th of July have not arrived. I'm really not sure what to do as I'm pretty sure we can't make claims for these items (they're low value so still in profit after sending a replacement anyway) but I'd just like to know what has happened!

My guess is that a bag or 2 have gone 'missing' - has this ever happened to anyone else? What did you do about it? Did the items turn up in the end?

No idea what to do or who to contact at Royal Mail

I've been selling for 3 years and never had it like this. In fact royal mail have improved a lot in the last year or so.

Will try and call the local sorting office and see if they can shed some light. Unfortunately it's all untracked so probably not going to be found

If you continue having these unexplained problems, it may help to switch to 24 / 48 hour service as Royal Mail will have a 2D barcode / QR Code. There will be scan events so it would shed more light on the situation when/if it happens again. The barcode service will be free so it is trackable "untracked" mail. Given your low value items, I assume you are most likely shipping large letter stuff so this suits you perfectly.

Hi, Yes we have had this happen and you are right that it was a bag which had been mislaid. Was it UK or international mail? Do you have a designated account manager? They are really helpful with these issues. Ours was found after depot searches were actioned. The customer experience team can be contacted via 08456 042010. I hope that helps!

Thanks for this, my suspicions are most likely correct then! I'll give them a call and also contact the person who helped set up my account.
