SEO Training

Hi Guys,

I did some training a while back on SEO which worked really well for me and I have managed to maintain some good rankings for sites out of it.

I am thinking that four years ago I could perhaps do with a refresh on techniques, but also thinking of taking someone else on to train up so would like to find a course for them.

Anyone know of some good courses or anyone run courses in SEO?

SEO has drastically changed over the last 2 years to the point it is pretty much useless :)

Google now knows how to find 'natural' looking linking, and anything that differs from that appears further down the ranking.

It is now simple, no course needed, good unique content, not keyword full. Backlinks split between naked urls, keywords, sentences, single words, things like "Click Here", etc, all random, but keywords doing not as well.

Basically think of a way a site gets linked to naturally, and that is it.

Of course you have to have keywords in the post so the SE's know what it is about, but more than that does not do you any good these days.

Wrong. Next.

Training courses held at venues etc are usually run by clowns that have little to no SEO knowledge.

I don't think there's really a way to learn SEO without building a website and making it rank yourself. Otherwise you are just driving blind really on the whim of what some expert tells you.

Not sure what I'd recommend, there's some ok guides out there by SEOmoz that cover the basics pretty well...

Ahh, the old theory v practise scenario.

I agree to a point, but in order to get the practise right, first you must understand the theory grasshopper.

We have seen so many changes recently a course may well be out of date and worthless. I know the guys at Melbourne SEO do consultations. Thats probably the best way to get the upto-date knowledge you are looking for.

Spot on, do your own seo. Its the safest way to rank well. The best seo is the most obvious. The worst seo is the easiest quickest.

If your seo is taking your hours and hours to carry out youre doing it right.
